Hands On Social Media Training in Redwood Falls

Last week, we had our first on-the-ground, hands-on training with busienss owners in Redwood Falls. Our plan was to work with a local social media specialist to provide training in the area. That way the attendees have a local expert to approach with questions later.

The room was full! We had a wide range of attendees, men and women, folks who were right out of school and folks who were closer to retirement. The class was three hours long – and intense. In fact they were talking about follow up courses before the class even finished! But foks kept up. We learned about Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, LinkedIn, FourSqaure and YouTube. Some attendees had used some of these tools before but it seems that everyone got to try at least one new tool – and definitely walked away with some good strategies for using social media in a busienss setting.

The trainer was Sarah (Viergutz) Kuglin from RV Technical Solutions. She’s from the area, has worked with many of the local businesses and did a great job. She knew her stuff and was able to use local examples that resonated with the attendees. She did a terrific job. Locally we work with Julie Rath at the Redwood Area Development Corporation. She too knows every business in town and worked hard to fill the room and make sure everything went smoothly.

The only hitch in the day was the broadband! We ran into some capacity issues in the training room. In the video below, Teresa Kittridge (fromM NREM), Sarah Kuglin and Julie Rath talk about their impressions from the day. (After the session businsses were invited to stay to learn more about the Blue-Green Alliance and some of their training opportunities. More on that soon!)
